We had rad experience in Indiana the other day. The solar eclipse. It was a big event around here. Pop up Stands selling shirts and glasses. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway was selling Tix at the track to watch. People flew in from all over to see the eclipse here in Indy. The kids had school off so we sat in the front yard and watched it turn from daylight to dark back to daylight.
If you’ve been online for even a few minutes I’m sure you saw a video of some guy on stage or with fancy podcast equipment telling you the world was going to end. Have you ever noticed… All these people say the same things? All year they push fear, devastation and a new world ending event. These people are the Plague… these people are turning into “the news” Yet here we are. The earth is still spinning and we’re alive.
It’s an election year so expect more and more of this type of content from the fear pushers. The grid is going down, world war 3 is happening, the economy is collapsing… the list goes on and on.
I personally don’t spend much time online (even as a creator on the platforms) I’m out here living my life. Plugged into community and chatting up friends. Nothing is perfect.. but for the most part everyone seems to be doing alright and getting along just fine.
This doesn’t mean to turn a blind eye or to not be prepared for tragedy. As men, we should always be preparing our mind, body and spirits. Our homes should be protected in case of an emergency. But to live in fear? To stress what’s completely out of our control? This is a distraction keeping you from contentment. Keeping the mind racing when it should be present with your family.
Tune out the World
Tune into the Lord
