Sitting in the den in my favorite chair. The one that overlooks the front yard. It’s quite in the home. Mood lighting on and worship music is playing faintly in the background. My dog is laying on a blanket in front of me and a warm (electric) fire is pushing heat from the corner of the room. My coffee is hot enough to burn the tongue (how I prefer it) Both the coffee and glass jar of water are within arms length.
PERFECTION
Everything in my world in this moment is perfect. The bigger things like: a healthy family, a roof over our head and no immediate danger I don’t take for granted. Praise the Lord…
I take initiative in creating routines. I create flow. My wife calls it “loving on your future self” We do things yesterday to make today easier. Example… the home is clean, the coffee is in its spot, a flip of a switch sets the vibe in the morning. Clothes are laid out and everything is in its place. Wake up and go… without friction*
Friction Leads to Frustration
Control what you can control. I value the mornings and peace it brings into my day. Starting the day in a frantic sets an anxious tone for the day. It’s like waking up and being behind the 8ball all day.
When I write like I am doing now its clears my mind. Sometimes I read. I start the day the way I want to start. I earned it. I beat the alarm clock and everyone in the house. This sets me up for a productive and peaceful day. Less friction before starting the day the better the day starts. Everything is set up upon waking up. The routine sets up success. It’s perfect*
Routines and Perfection
My morning routine is perfection. I’ve perfected it over the last 8+ years doing it mostly 5-7 days a week. I know what I like and I know what I need. I do that. This requires proactive planning and results is peace and flow. Setting myself up for a successful morning takes -5 mins in the evening. Thats worth it if you ask me.
What can you do today to love on your future self?
Do that
-With Love
