Chatting up a homie the other day and he says “dude we are spending 2 hours+ a day around making/cleaning up meals. It’s okay now and then but its really a time suck the drains me through the week”
Granted, he has 3 kids and a wife. So cooking for 5 is not like cooking for 1. Or is it?
In 2019 I met one of the smartest guys to ever come into my life. A Vanderbilt grad and former MLB player ALEX Feinberg
Alex and I started working together in strength training. He got STRONG! When the world shut down through 2020 Alex spent a ton of time with us in Indy training and learning from one another. The more time I spent with Alex the more I realized his genius. The way we breaks down problems and leverages mental frame works is truly fascinating. He’s not easily emotionally influenced which keeps him in the pocket to think logically. He built these frameworks from playing sports at a high level and working in large corporations like google. High pressure environments.
NUTRITION TIP 1 FROM ALEX
-MORE SALT. MORE GARLIC. (Like a lot more)
If your meals taste bad or you think you need sauces you’re not seasoning them enough
NUTRITION TIP 2 FROM ALEX
-MAKE SCALABLE MEALS
Cooking steaks, chicken, burgers, rice, adult Mac and cheese takes nearly the same time for 1 as it does 5.
NUTRITION TIP 3 FROM ALEX
Cook simpler and have a rotation of meals. Small changes to keep it excited. Example- add seafood in.
NUTRITION TIP 4 FROM ALEX
Eat your PROTEIN FIRST.
I watched Alex leave carbs on his plate all the time. He always locks in on protein as the priority. He also stays JACKED and LEAN all year. Not many people are doing this like he is.
Most of the meals we cook now are scalable. Tacos, roast, steaks, chicken +rice, sourdough… just the other day I cooked up a meal for 5 grown men in 20 mins. Makes it even easier if you have a grill.
Alright… for CLEAN UP. I do something different. I put all my food on a BIG BOARD. Then typically have a couple paper plates (crunchy fitness bros wont recommend paper plates. I aint that) This makes clean up a BREEZE. Wipe the board off… move on!
My wife has always been quite the chief. Year after year she’s perfected her systems making each meal faster and more tasty. We put all of the lessons learned and recipes in our cookbook. You can find it here: COOKBOOK
