THE Weekend Warrior!
The Weekend Warrior vibe! Not the kind who’s pounding drinks for two days straight (though, no judgment, we’ve all had those awesome nights!). I’m talking about the kind of who’s living life ON PURPOSE
I’m not a purist. I like a diet Coke or some seed oils now and then, but my days of wild weekends are fading. I’ve got a 12-year-old and a 1-year-old at home, and being #1 Dad means I need to bring my A-game for this kids. Plus, I love feeling like my best self and late nights or too many drinks take your boy out for a week
My weekends aren’t for crashing on the couch (though, sometimes) But more so, they’re as action-packed as my weekdays! I’ll do a 5-6 mile ruck, a killer leg day, or an adventure with my family. To make it happen, I’m up early before the chaos or sneaking in a workout during nap time. I’m sure you can relate. Most of us are like the rest of us. I bet you’re juggling just as much.
I train a crew of guys I call Weekend Warriors! Dudes who live full lives but still crush their fitness goals. Take one of my guys, a 45-year-old who’s in better shape than most 20-year-olds. He trains 3 days a week but squeezes in 4+ workouts. This guy operates like a professional.
Here’s his playbook:
Daily Movement/ walks: 12k steps a day!
- Tuesday: 5:30 AM, 30-minute workout to kickstart the week.
- Saturday: 5:30 AM class at 6, then home for family breakfast. Later, he’s out on a walk or adventure with the kids, sneaking in bodyweight training while playing on the floor.
- Sunday: 5:30 AM heavy lift at the gym, then a family adventure post-church or a 45-60+ minute run during downtime.
This guy doesn’t have time to mess around during the week, so he makes time on weekends. He’s up early, stays active, and prioritizes staying fit!
I know you’re saying, “My week’s slammed, and weekends are packed too!” I get it. But here’s the truth: you make time for what you prioritize. Little things like cutting back on alcohol, waking up at the same time on weekends as you do weekdays. I’m not talking ALWAYS, either! But, more often than not. What if it was that “simple”? All you need is a plan a sustainable approach tailored to your life.
