I know, I know, most people on the internet HATE on New Year Resolutions. I’m not one of them. There’s plenty of Data that shows 90+ percent of Resolution’s fail. I see why people hate on them. I personally love the change of calendar years. I see it as a FRESH START. I love fresh starts.
Every year I seem to stack up wins (and some loses if I’m being honest) I take the first few weeks or even months of the NewYear NOT to set goals. But rather to build healthier “rhythms” in my days. Before I add ANYTHING to my plate I ask “what can I take off?” I call it “LEAVE IT!” Leave it in 2024!
New Year goals fail for a plethora of reasons and I could write all day on the reasons I see why they fail. But rather than beating a dead horse or telling you much of what you may already know. I want to give you a different perspective for 2025
FIRST
Before you set goals this year take the next few weeks to reflect on 2024. What should you LEAVE behind in last year? This might look like eating out too often, drinking, smoking, too much time on the internet or TV, working tooooo many hours, etc. Before you go adding stress and needing more time to accomplish a goal let’s create some space on your plate. If you don’t have the space/time you wont execute on the goal anyway. You can’t white knuckle these things. You wont be able to will power your way into achieving goals. This is a knucklehead approach.
Alright… More Perspective
Holiday season ruins us. & by us I mean the vast majority. Sure it’s great to be around family, friends, eat all the sweets and watch the kids open up presents. But tell me this, how off routine do you get through the holidays? How easy is it to eat food that makes you feel like crap? These days are more common Nov. - Jan. 6-7, really? You were in a better position prior to the holidays than you are NOW. It’s gonna take some time to get back up to base line. You must be patient. You must EXTEND the timelines on goals. It’s often the reason goals fail- too much pressure to meet a deadline YOU SET*
To Conclude… New Year Resolutions FAIL when you don’t have the space in your calendar to execute. They fail when you bring bad habits from last year into this year. Forcing you to white knuckle it everyday. They fail when you’re out of touch with reality… when you set unrealistic timelines.
I can help. Shoot me a text that says: NEW YEAR*
Heres a link to MY NUMBER it’s always me on the other end of the line. I’ll be taking a few calls and opening up space in my calendar over the next few weeks.
If I don’t get back to you right away, don’t stress it. I’ll be in touch after the wkend or mid next week. I prioritize NO PHONE TIME (I call it a PHONE FAST) & I do it every evening and almost every weekend. You should to* That was one of my LEAVE IT’s back in 2023*
Alright, have a good one brotha. Love you, Zach

Great stuff Zach, leave it is something I’m chewing on…
