“You don’t rise to the occasion… you fall to your training”
Do you ever find yourself repeating toxin patterns- hating that you do?
-Making Promises you can’t keep
-Telling your kids/ wife you’ll be there… then you’re not
-Saying you’ll drop 20lbs - 40lbs ago…
-Saying you’ll stop working so much and find a career/ employer that respects you- but its been 10 years at the same job you hate
-Saying you wont bring work home- but keep bringing work home
-Saying you wont snap on your kids- but keeping snapping
-Saying you will meal prep- but keep eating out
-Saying you’ll wake up early- but keep hitting snooze
Why do you keep doing this to yourself?
Life can be hard on us… when it rain it pours. At times it feels like you just can’t catch a break.
I wanna bring some truth to you- YOU DON’T RISE TO THE OCCASION- YOU FALL TO YOUR TRAINING.
If you’re not “training” yourself to keep promises- you won’t keep them.
Example A:
-Tomorrow I am going to the gym…. You don’t go. You train yourself to find outs
Example B:
You tell your wife/kids you’ll be there… you show up late. You do this all the time. You’re training yourself that other things are more important.
Example C:
You say you’re going to leave that job. But you spend the weekends vegging out. Drinking beers or distracting yourself with sports. You sleep in. - You don’t train yourself to wake up early- learn a new skill or seek new employment.
Example: D
You say you wont bring work home - but you create no space between work and home- so you snap on the kids as soon as they make one little mistake or need your attention. You have no space for them because you’re slammed with work and your mind is somewhere else. You don’t train to create space.
You continue tot fail to rise to the occasion because you are not training for it.
You will never rise to the occasion until you prioritize training for it!
This… in a nut shell is the DO HARD THINGS PHILOSOPHY.
Willingly doing the hard thighs to prepare for life’s hard things. The things that are both in and out of your control.
-You wake up early and workout! It doesn’t matter how feel. You said you wanted to lose 20lbs- if you cant keep your word to yourself… NO ONE WILL RESPECT YOU*
-You tell your wife and kids you will be there and you show up! No matter what is on your plate for work or who needs you. You do the hard thing and set healthy boundaries so you can be present with those who matter most
-You say you’re going to leave the job that doesn’t respect you.. You say you’re made for something more. So you spend your weekends and early mornings learning the skills you need to leave. You don’t care about sleep or drinking or staying social with friends. YOU HAVE GOALS!!! A whole ass life to create.
-You take 10-15 mins a day to learn proper breathing techniques to relax the mind before you walk into the home. You do hard things like Ice bath, intense sauna sessions, and mediations that train you to keep composure in the chaos
My friend- the results come from the training. From the preparation! You want change? You’re gonna have to work for it!
